Victoria (Equizabal) Visus

Victoria Visus, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Clear Lake, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Victoria was born on March 15, 1934, in Carcastillo, Navarra, Spain, to Ángel Eguizabal, a blacksmith, and Nieves Garde, a homemaker. She was the youngest of five daughters and was preceded in death by her four sisters.

In 1954, Victoria left Carcastillo to pursue her nursing education with the Spanish Red Cross in Zaragoza, Spain. She later worked as a nurse in Barcelona and Madrid. After meeting her future husband in her hometown, she followed him to Milan, Italy, where she served as a private-duty nurse for one year.

On October 12, 1963, Victoria married Ricardo Visus. Together they built a life centered on family, raising two children, Carmen and Juan. In 1972, they moved to Moorhead, Minnesota, where they spent the next twenty-two years. They often joked that they had settled in the coldest place on earth, but they embraced the Midwest, formed lifelong friendships, and created many cherished memories.

Following retirement, Victoria and Ricardo divided their time between the United States and Spain. They loved traveling and treasured the opportunity to spend extended time with their children and grandchildren in the United States.

Victoria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Above all, she was a deeply devoted mother to her son, Juan, who was born with Down syndrome. Their bond was extraordinary, and they were inseparable throughout her life. She was his greatest advocate, his fiercest supporter, and a constant source of love and encouragement. She took immense pride in helping him achieve his fullest potential and considered him one of her life’s greatest blessings.

She is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Jeffrey Molldrem); her son, Juan; and her beloved grandchildren, Marco and Elisa.

Victoria was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo; her parents, Ángel and Nieves; and her sisters, Berta, Palmira, Marina, and Rosario.

Those who knew Victoria will remember her quiet grace, sharp wit, unwavering strength, and deep love for her family. She carried herself with elegance and kindness, and her presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.

Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, devotion, and generous spirit.
