Linda Sue Sorrells Belcher

Linda Sue Sorrells Belcher was born on 9/5/1949 in Dumas, Texas to Jesse Sorrells and Opal Powell.  On 12/23/2020, Linda joined both of her parents and her son, Christopher Todd Stanley, in our Lord Father’s Heavenly Kingdom.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lewis Belcher; her oldest son, Eugene Thomas Stanley; and grandson, Christopher Gene Stanley.  Linda is also survived by sister Virginia Lee Bailey Conley, brother Ron Bailey, brother David Sorrells and brother Danny Sorrells along with their children.

Linda retired from American National Insurance Company after 31 years of service.  When she retired, Linda looked forward to traveling and spending time with Lewis and her family.  She was a generous woman who found joy in helping others and often put others before herself.  For many years, she was a member of Highlands Baptist Church in La Marque, Texas and was currently a member of Nassau Bay Baptist Church.  Linda enjoyed singing and was a member of the NBBC choir until her health took her ability to sing.  Linda now sings with the Heavenly Angels.  She also loved children and served as a Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, and teacher in Vacation Bible School, among other areas of service.  She was a great woman, greater spouse, and greatest mom, as well as a wonderful friend.  Linda is greatly loved by many and will be missed tremendously.  Rest In Peace, Linda and rejoin your family and friends in our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom who preceded your passing.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

  1. Linda had the most wonderful sense of humor. You had to “stay on your toes” while talking to her because her dry wit caught you off guard at times and made you laugh at yourself for being so slow to catch her humor. I observed her quiet, gentle spirit as she lived out her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I also rejoiced when she married Lewis because I saw happiness and contentment written all over her face throughout their entire time together. God blessed my life by having known Linda. My prayers are with all of Linda’s family.

  2. May the Lord Jesus bless and comfort you Lewis and loved ones. Linda was my Sunday School buddy, always having an interesting thought or opinion on scripture. We were drawn to each other’s friendship the minute we met because we both had physical handicaps and could encourage each other. I loved her sense of humor and her sweet, affectionate spirit. I’m going to miss her, but I’m filled with joy and gratitude that she’s with Jesus. I love you Linda and look forward to seeing the real you—healed!!! Your friend and sister, Betty

  6. Linda, how am I supposed to do this without my best friend? I know you’re whole and happy and spent Christmas with the Savior of the world, but it sure is hard for many of us. I will miss your wonderful humor and being able to talk to you about things that I can’t talk to others about. When you talked, people listened, including me!

Kim and I love you so much, and will miss you living so close to us and going to church with us.

Dance away, my friend! We’ll see you one day!
Love you bunches, Kim and Terri Astin

  7. To the Family of Linda :
My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of my beloved supervisor Linda. When I started working at American National Insurance Company she was my very first supervisor. She was full of joy and had lots of love for everyone that she came in contact with. When she suggested to management to promote me to a different position I moved on but always reference to her as my department supervisor. The last time I saw her at Walmart, I thanked her for always being in my corner at work, for being the best Avon representative, and best Christmas programs advise.

    Forever in my heart!

  8. To the family:

Linda truly exhibited the spirit of Christ
A loving and caring heart for all. She was my supervisor bro
briefly at American National. She always had a smile, a word of encouragement and something to make you laugh.
Even though I hadn’t seem her in years I can never forget her spirit.

  9. To Lewis & all of Linda’s family,

She was a true inspiration and a total joy to be around. She was filled with the love of Our Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and shared that Love with so many. Since her retirement I have missed the joy of working with her and Rod & I will now also miss her on our cruises.

Though this news is saddening, it also brings great joy to know that Ms. Linda is whole again, with a healed body, singing voice and sharing her love, humor and stories with all in Heaven.

Praying for the the family of such a great lady.

    Jodi & Rod Shirley
