John Felix Migues

John Felix Migues, beloved husband, father, Pop Pop brother, and uncle passed away suddenly on Dec 9, 2020. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Thomas and Mary Ann Migues, and sister Bridget Jordan. He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on February 28, 1954. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Northwestern Louisiana University in 1978. Always wanting to learn more, he returned to school to earn an Associate’s degree in nursing in 1988 and while continuing to work and learn, proudly earned his Master’s degree in 2008, After retiring in 2016, he devoted his time to designing and crafting his many woodworking projects, and volunteering with cook teams for Our Lady of Fatima School, and friends of Fatima support group. He was fiercely proud of he’s children and grandchildren and often wondered aloud what he had done to deserve them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marie Kathleen (Howard) Migues, children Sean and wife Rebecca of Galveston, TX ,Joshua and wife Jackie of Converse, TX and Annie of La Marque, TX; grandchildren: Lenore, Wyatt, Amelia and Aidyn. Brothers, Ernest T. and Paul of Heflin, La, sisters Gloria Toney of Baton Rouge, La, Ann Masden and Margaret Migues of Alexandria, La, numerous nieces and nephews and his constant companion and faithful dog, Seamus.

Our son Josh speaks for us all when he wrote: “Still trying to find the words. You always think you’ll have the time. You don’t think it will happen yet, and you wake up and it still doesn’t feel real. We lost my dad. He was a good man, and growing up he always welcomed my friends over and had a joke or two ready and treated them like they were part of the family. He was there with advice (whether you wanted it or not), a silly story, and a warm hug and a smile. He loved his family in his way, and loved his grandkids even more. There are so many things I wish we could have done, or that we should have done that we didn’t get to make time for. We are going to miss you Dad, and we love you very much.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Vincent De Paul Society (care of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City), Our Lady of Fatima School in Texas City, or the charity of your choice.

The CDC Covid-19 Guideline of wearing a mask and social distancing is required and seating is limited.

He was inquisitive by nature and spent time teaching others and learning new things as part of his daily living. We shall miss him and send warm thoughts to the family for sharing his time with us. on a very personal note..

This one hurts. I sincerely echo a lot of Josh’s words. John was such a truly great soul. Giving is only word I can use; but it truly does not do justice. I will always fondly remember the times that I stayed over at the house when Sean and I were growing up and going through our Confirmation classes. To the entire Migues family- Marie, Sean, Joshua and Annie- I can not wrap my head around what you all may be feeling right now. These words are not easy to type right now. I hope this finds you just a little bit of comfort and solace during this time. God Bless.

  4. Love & Prayers to the family of John Migues, John joined our small group of volunteers, Friends of Fatima. He always said he would do anything for our Fatima school kids. He always was there to help with hamburger Thursdays, Wednesday luncheons and fundraisers such as the Turkey diners and he did it with a big smile. John will be certainly missed by all of us. God Bless.
