Paul Wayne Barnett
Paul Wayne Barnett, age 59, a resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed away on July 31, 2026. He was born on January 9, 1967 in Texas City, Texas to parents, Rufus Emmet Barnett, Jr. and Barbara Ann (Moser) Barnett.
He had a career as a CAD draftsman for city government.
Paul was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Rufus E. Barnett Jr. and mother, Barbara Ann Barnett.
He is survived by his brother Rufus E. Barnett III and Shawneica L. Atkins; nephew Brandon H. Barnett; nieces, Tara J. Barnett and Aliana E. Flores; uncle, Jesse L. Barnett and wife Carolyn E. Barnett; cousins Teri Gibson and husband Mike Gibson, Beth Farrell and husband, Kevin Farrell, and children Kennedy and Aidan Farrell; Best friend Donna Catron Graham and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 11:00am – 12:00pm with a memorial service at 12:00pm in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.
I miss Paulwayne so much. I’ve known him since I was around 10/11 years old. Paulwayne and I talked almost everyday up until the last 2 weeks of his life. If we didn’t talk, we text.

Prayers are being lifted up at the Way Maker Church in New Orleans Louisiana. Indeed, Paul Wayne lived a very impactful life and shared many very fruitful connections with others. Because of him, we have many great reflections of joyful moments. I am honored to have known Paul Wayne and to be considered a friend. Our specific prayers for all family and friends and loved ones will continue….

Paul will be missed by many at BGE, Inc. He always had a smiling face and was always cracking a joke or two. I miss seeing his smiling face when he stopped at my desk for his daily dose of chocolate.
When I meet Paul sometime around 2009, he was a new hire to BGE. He was friendly and in your face with a booming voice.
He had opinions about things and people and was passionate about it. He was also a grumbler. He hated to be told to train new employees, but he did it anyway even when he wasn’t told. That’s the way he was – an outstanding draftsman who secretly loved to teach.
He told lots of jokes – some Safe-For-Work some Not-So-Safe. Many of you will know what I mean…
Paul loved to eat, but even there, he had his opinions – one being “no fruit with meat”, but he also loved soul food. He was willing to travel anywhere in the city or county to find the best smothered pork chop.
He also loved his Denver teams, his gun collection, and Fords -especially his Mustang.
There is so much I could say about Paul, but there’s not enough space to do so.
He was a great man that will be missed.

I sat right next to Paul for 10 years at work before I retired and was so saddened by passing. He was friendly to everyone, and if you were close to him, you got a nickname. I was “miss Gucci ” to him.
I will always cherish his friendship, humor, and kind heart. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will forever be thankful to Paul Wayne for introducing me to one of his best friends, my husband of now 29 years. I’ll never forget Paul Wayne’s sense of humor or his love of all things Broncos! RIP P. Dub, you are already being missed dearly.
I was so touched by his heart. After losing my husband and mother within a month apart Wayne would check on me. It really meant so much, most ppl forget you after a loss. I was saddened to hear of his illness. May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family.
I’m not a morning person, but it was impossible not to get in a good mood when Paul would pop into the office and say something to make you laugh first thing in the morning. Rest in peace Paul Wall.

When I first met Paul back in 2019, I was intimidated by his seriousness but eventually getting to know Paul through my years at BGE he was actually a treasure-trove of knowledge. He may have had his personal preferences and methods how to address things, but at the end of the day I learned a vast amount of ways to address small or large issues. All thanks to Paul for being patient, kind of, hahaha.
I’m gonna have to agree with Mr. Wiley, Paul did in fact have lots of jokes that were safe-for-work and not-safe-for-work, but hey he made our long days at work fun and engaging. I will miss his call outs “CARRRRRRL”, whenever seeing each other at the office.
