Thomas Ray Ball
Thomas Ray Ball, 71, of Dickinson, Texas passed from this life on December 22, 2021.
He was born on November 14, 1950 to parents Buford Ray and Rosalie Margaret (Lucher) Ball in Orange, Texas.
Thomas grew up in Orange, Texas and graduated from Stark High School. He was very active in sports. He was a pitcher for the University of Houston and was later drafted by the New York Mets. Thomas was always dedicated to whatever he was involved in.
Thomas worked as an accountant in hospital administration.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Rosalie Ball and brother, Bruce Ball.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A graveside service will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Orange, Texas on Monday, January 3, 2021.
We will miss you, Tom.
I am proud to say that Tom and I have been friends since high school and I will greatly miss the friendship. Good bye, buddy.
Tom was a good friend. We grew up together in Orange. He was a kind, gentle soul. Thank you. God, for his life & love.
I met Tom in my early teens, we played on the same Colt League baseball team (VFW). Besides being a good friend, he could really bring the heat with his fast ball. I consider him as a Great friend, and he will truly be missed.
I knew Tom from our years as St. Mary’s School before he transferred to Stark High School. He was always a kind, soft spoken friend. Rest In Peace, my friend!
I knew Tom for many years.. Tom was a year older than me
In school.He played sports with my brothers..After graduation he went
to college at U of H . Then, moved away and worked for several hospitals
in their accounting dept. He would come home to visit his mom
and dad until they passed, and he made our home his home when
he came in town.
He put himself in his work like he did his sports. He world work
until the early hour in the morning. When his brother Bruce got sick,
he moved back to Houston to take of him. He was a good and gentle

Today, I just found out about Tom Ball’s passing. I am sad to hear this as he was a good friend, mentor, and boss. I will truly miss him and I pray he is now resting in peace. Miss you, Tom and will see you again when its time. God bless. Amen.

I only discovered the news of Tom’s passing today, nearly five years later. I am very sad to learn this and feel led to write a few words in his honor, albeit many years later.
I met Tom in the seventh grade at St. Mary’s school in Orange, TX in the fall of 1963. My family had moved back to Orange in May, 1963 and Tommy, as he was known then, struck me out every time I batted against him in Little League that summer.
He was an overpowering pitcher and great batter, and his team, the Eagles, had a number of other great players. I believe they were undefeated that season.
We got to know each other and became friends as classmates at St. Mary’s and he starred in baseball and football in junior high, but was also a good student who treated everyone kindly. Our friendship continued through high school at Stark
and, though we saw each other only occasionally after high school, every time we met at reunions over the years there was always the feeling of closeness and comfort when discussing things which had transpired since our last visit.
Tom, you were a special person and I am so thankful for your friendship. I pray that your soul and spirit are eternally joyful and at peace.
