Phyllis Lynn Tidwell
Phyllis Lynn Tidwell, 79, passed away peacefully at home in League City, TX on September 10, 2026. Phyllis was born on January 29, 1947, in Snyder, TX to Wayne and Rudene (Berryhill) Gladson. Phyllis met her high school sweetheart, Paul, while attending the Snyder United Methodist Church in the summer of 1964 and they married on August 30, 1968. As an alumnus of Texas Tech University, San Angelo State University and receiving her bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University–Commerce, Phyllis began her career as an elementary school teacher.
The young couple spent their early years in Germany while Paul served in the Army. Upon returning to Texas, they settled in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton where they lived and raised their family for 44 years. Phyllis retired after 20 years of service as Executive Assistant in the Environmental Services Department at the City of Carrollton. She loved to dance with her husband and was an avid bridge player. The couple relocated to League City in 2022, and Phyllis found a deeper connection to her faith while attending Friendswood Methodist church. The visits from her church family brought her comfort in her final days. Her love for her family was unmatched, and she was a wonderful hostess, and truly had a heart for others. Phyllis was dearly loved by her husband, children, extended family, as well as many close friends. She left an endearing legacy and all those who were fortunate to know her will miss her greatly.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Paul Tidwell, son Trevor Tidwell and wife Becky, son Corey Tidwell and wife Sina, daughter Angela Brown and husband Chris. As well, her seven grandchildren Jacob, Emily, Hunter, Josh, Molly, Mia and Kristine, and sisters Sherene Lamb and Denise Phillips. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
