Peggy Alene Kovacevich Roehl

Peggy Alene Kovacevich Roehl, 79, passed from this life on the afternoon of September 19th, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Texas City. She was surrounded by the love of her family as she peacefully entered the arms of our Lord.

The youngest of 6 children, Peggy was born on August 5th, 1938 in Point Texas to Leonard and Florine Williams. She moved to Galveston with her family when she was 6.

Peggy attended school in Galveston and was a 1956 year graduate of Ball High School. She worked for 20+years for Galveston Independent School District, starting out in the special education classroom and later at the administration building office. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Texas City in 1998.

Retirement didn’t mean ‘lazy’ to Peggy. She was always busy! She served as church secretary for a time, enjoyed crafting, cooking, sewing and C&W dancing. She was always ready to lend a hand when needed, often before she was asked. She took care of everyone.

She was lovingly referred to as ‘Prepared Peggy’ by her children because Mama never forgot anything! Whether going on a family vacation or just running errands around town- whatever you might need, she had it. Chapstick, gum, a pair of scissors or even a change of clothes…she had it!

Peggy was a loving wife, sister and friend with a huge heart. She meant the world to her children, and for good reason. She was an amazing mother with such a kind soul. She was a great listener, so very wise, and THE one you went to when you needed advice.
She had a heart as big as Texas, and warmth radiated from her. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her couldn’t help but to love her. She touched the lives of everyone in her path.

Peggy is preceded in death by her first husband Steve Kovacevich, Sr.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Marvin Roehl, daughter Barbara Kovacevich, sons Steve Kovacevich Jr and Billy Kovacevich, sister Eudene Williams, step daughters Peggy Wilson and Karen Roehl, step sons Robert Roehl and John Thomas Roehl, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her beloved poodle-mix, Katie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 23rd at 10 AM at First Christian Church in Texas City. 2400 21st Street. Pastor and friend, Todd Williams will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to your local animal shelter or the charity of your choice.

  8. I never had the pleasure of meeting Peggy, but I feel like I knew her in some way. Through knowing her daughter Barbara. In my eyes the best measure of a woman is the kind of children she has raised, and based on that. I believe every word said above and then some. As she did an amazing job as a Mom, and it is obvious. Her Legacy lives on in her children. Thank you Peggy for blessing us all.
