  1. Manuel was one of the most positive and bright personalities we had in our lab. We loved talking about Rockets basketball! It was a joy to work with him for the last 13 years and we will miss seeing him every day. My deepest sympathies to your family.

  2. I cannot begin to express the sorrow I feel. I am glad that I have fond memories of Manuel as a coworker and as a friend. Get togethers at his home were legendary. Manuel was always genuine and he loved to talk about his family and his boys of course. The smile on his foto is how I will always remember Manuel. My deepest sympathy to Leigh and the boys.

  4. My wife and I moved to League City in 2002 and met our neighbors, Manuel and Leigh. We became friends and had some great times together. When Hurricane Rita threatened to hit the Galveston area,in 2005, Manuel helped Joe Ruiz and I put storm shutters on our second story windows. I would have really struggled to do it alone. Manuel was always willing to lend a helping hand. I will miss Manuels smile and good nature.

  5. I worked many years alongside Manuel at UTMB in Galveston. Our shift had a commraderie that made working in the Blood Bank something to look forward too. I am proud to have called him my friend. His house parties were the best! And he loved his cars. The homemade stencil stood out on the road. You could see those flashing lights from far away, when he turned them on.
He was quite the artist. I especially enjoyed our football talk. Manuel was a Bills fan and I a Packer fan. Yes, we had some lively discussions.
My sincerest condolences to Leigh, the boys, and his family. You are all in my prayers.
    He was a good man.

  6. My deepest sympathies to Leigh and the family. When I think of Manuel, so many great and funny stories come to mind, all the fun at work and the trouble we all got into, whenever our blood bank group gets together, there is always a Remember when Manuel story that comes up and we would laugh. He was always smiling and making us crack up. I will miss that shit eating grin and sparkle in his eyes whenever he was up to trouble. Now i know he is smiling down from heaven, a guardian angel for the family. God bless and give you strength through this, may He keep you in his arms.

  7. Manny, My dear friend I have cherished the last 15 years of friendship you have provided me and my family . Although we were not related by blood You and Leigh were definitely a big apart of our family. No matter how rough of a week I was having or day I knew that I could always count on you for your friendship and guidance. As soon as we would see each other or just talk on the phone I would just stop thinking about everything else because it simply wasn’t as engaging or as important you were. I want to thank for being the best friend I could have ever asked for. Little did I know when I met you 15 years ago we would foster such a relationship. Everyone always gravitated to you because you were the life of the party. You were taken from us to soon my brother. I deeply regret not having a chance to see you since your birthday. I Love You Bro! May you rest in heaven.

  10. I knew Manuel as a person of great pride and honor. He was very generous and kind and had a sense of great integrity. “Blood In Blood Out” he would always joke with us at work, his way of saying you had to be committed. Rest peacefully friend.

  11. Blood Bank Techs are what I refer to as the “Mystery Techs” because we only see them once in a Blue Moon. I would often see Manuel in passing at the end of my shift and greet him with “Hey Blood Banker” and he would smile that smile. I will miss that. I pray God’s peace upon his wife, sons, parents and all who knew and loved him.

  15. We lived next door to Manuel and his wonderful family for four years. Manuel was the model of a gentleman and a wonderful neighbor. His easy-going nature was enduring. I fondly recall his amazing BBQ skills with mesquite brought back from Laredo, his passion for keeping his vehicles spotless, and his palpable love for his family. Leigh, Chris, Anthony, and Jonathan, may you find comfort during this time, and may Manuel rest in peace.

  16. I worked for many years with Manuel at UTMB in the blood bank. Every day before he started his shift, he would stop by my desk to say hi, we had many conversations and he always made me laugh. I missed him and was glad I was able to see him one last time for lunch with his old lab crew. Condolences to Leigh and their children. RIP Manuel.
