Mable W. “Freddie” Sessums Neel

Mable W. “Freddie” Sessums Neel was born on December 6, 1933, in Vernon, Texas. She went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Neel, parents Orville and Bonnie Sessums, her four sisters, one brother, her eldest daughter, Kenna, and two grandsons. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Randall) Wiederhold and Nancy (Dean) Ferriegel, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

After her family, Freddie’s love of sewing defined her. She loved to sew anything, exploring new fabrics and techniques often. Freddie loved to try new things with every family move as a way to meet other women in her community. As a result, we all learned to sew, quilt, macrame, knit and crochet. Paper mâché was not a success for anyone, although her ceramics were lovely.

Freddie had a passion for teaching sewing and shared that passion with others, encouraging them to find their own love for the craft. Freddie and Ken owned a fabric store where she taught beginners to intermediate sewing to others, including having summer sewing classes for kids.

After her retirement, Freddie was heavily involved with Victory Camp. She volunteered in any area they needed her and she also participated in other activities in her church, volunteering in the nursey, the bookstore and with the teen’s ministry.

Freddie also quilted beautifully. Her eye for design, colors and patterns shone in her quilts. She was part of Living Stones quilt ministry. She enjoyed the comradery, fellowship, and friendship of the other quilters in the group. Their quilts have brought much comfort to many individuals over the years.

Freddie will be greatly missed by all of those that knew her, but her spirit will live on through the cherished memories that everyone has.

The family would like to extend appreciation and gratitude to all of the wonderful staff at Baywood Crossing Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and also to Heart to Heart Hospice for the unselfish care you gave to her during her stay with you.

We’ll miss you, Mom (Grams). Give everybody a hug for us and we’ll see you later.

Love, Nancy, Susie and the rest of the crew.
