Eulalia “Nina” Unruh

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eulalia “Nina” Unruh, who left us peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the age of 83. She was a devoted wife, a cherished sister, a deeply loving mother, and a magical grandmother and great-grandmother whose presence illuminated the lives of everyone she knew.

Nina truly never knew a stranger. To meet her was to become her friend. Incredibly empathetic and fiercely generous, she moved through her 83 years with an open heart, quietly helping and touching countless lives. Her warmth was a safe harbor for many, and her legacy of kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Alongside her beloved husband, James, Nina lived a life full of vibrant adventure. Together, they shared a deep curiosity for the world, traveling to all corners of the globe, collecting stories, and building a beautiful partnership that spanned decades. When she wasn’t exploring the world, Nina could almost always be found with her nose in a good book or spending time with her animals. She loved her pets more than anything, and her home was always a sanctuary for them.

Nina was welcomed into peace by her beloved parents, Joaquim and Eleodora Escada, as well as her treasured past pets, Dollar, Thunder, Tasha, and Lucky, who undoubtedly greeted her with wagging tails.

Her beautiful spirit lives on through her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, James; her loyal pet, Rafa; her loving sister, Erminda; her daughter, Rita and son-in-law, Pedro; her stepson, Michael and daughter-in-law, Juanita. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Danielle and Carolina, and her precious great-grandson, Luca, alongside a vast circle of loving friends who will miss her dearly.
