Joseph “Alan” Block

Joseph “Alan” Block passed away on April 2, 2020.  Alan was born on March 21, 1979 in Houston, Texas and graduated from Pine Drive Christian School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1997. Alan was an avid sports fan and he played on the varsity basketball, baseball and football teams in high school.  Alan loved all sports, but his favorite teams included the Houston Oilers as a child, the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros.  He loved to watch, attend or talk about sports as much as he could.  Alan also served as Class President.

After graduation, Alan attended San Jacinto College and became a certified HVAC Service Technician and worked with a number of companies before becoming ill and suffering from major complications, due to Diabetes.  Alan never met a stranger and had many return customers due to his social nature and quick wit.

Alan is survived by his parents, Thomas and Alma Block; his children, Alana Marie Block, Parker Alan Block and Kenzley Reese Block; brother, Bryan Block and his wife Gina; sister, Jessica Block Valdez and husband, Adrian; nephews Enrique Cruz Block and Mateo Miguel Block; many aunts, uncles and cousins who he dearly loved.

His parents would like to thank all of those who visited, supported and prayed for Alan in his final days, especially Jimi Rae Cebulla, Joseph Gamino, Bubba & Debbie Brannan, Dustin and Tracey Alexander, Diego Monroy and the doctors and nurses who cared for him.

Due to virus concerns, a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date, so that we can all come together to celebrate his life.  Memorial contributions can be made in Alan’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.

  1. Our lives are shattered with your loss. There is only comfort knowing that you are no longer in pain and are embraced by the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Life threw you many curveballs, but you managed to run the bases as best as you could. Your children will always remember how much you loved them, as did your family and friends. We know that you will be playing on that field of dreams and I can see you swinging for the fences. We love you most… Mom and Dad

  25. Alma and Tom,
Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. I understand the inconsolable grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. But, God said in His word, that he will wipe away all our tears, remove all our sorrow and pain. He will give you and your family that quiet peace that surpasses all understanding. I hope that your hearts will be lifted up as you remember that there is no greater love than that which abides with our Savior. All will be well.
