George Jay House
George Jay House, of League City, Texas, passed peacefully away to be with our Lord and Savior on September 11, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on December 30, 1940, to Rayburn and Martha “June” House. He had one sister, Janet House Land.
George attended the University of Wyoming, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1964.
He was married to Alice Jean Ellsbury for 65 years. Together, they had four sons: Kenneth (Roger), Jeffrey (Pam), Timothy (Amy), and Gary (Nikki). He had five grandchildren: Evan, Amelia (Thomas), Dustin (Lamera), Cody (Katherine), and Andrew (Chloe); and five great-grandchildren: Trey, Samantha, Rowan, Declan, and Harvey.
He was a lifelong fisherman, and being by or on the water was his favorite thing to do. Baseball was his favorite sport—playing when he was young and watching his team of choice, the Houston Astros, fill many contented hours in later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn and June House, and his brother-in-law, Mahlon “Buzz” Land.
He worked for 42 years in the petrochemical industry, where he met many lifelong friends.
The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 6:00pm with a Vigil and Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker Street, League City, Texas 77573 with Father Fr. Simon Kipiti, presiding. Interment will be held on Friday at 10:00am at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7801 Gulf Freeway, Dickinson, Texas 77539
