Tang Buu Tuyen

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend, Tang Buu Tuyen on March 10, 2021 at the age of 78. He was also lovingly known as “Ong Ngoai”. He touched all our hearts beyond words, leaving a void that can never be filled.

He has left his soul mate, best friend and wife, Nguyen Anh Van. He is survived by his son, Tri Tang (Lieu Truong) and his six daughters: Diep Tang, Loan Tang (Todd Guillory), Thuy Tang (Tam Nguyen), Diem Tang (Jimmy Nguyen), Phuong Nguyen and Nga Tang (Tony Pham). He left behind his 15 grandchildren that he is extremely proud of: Tina Nguyen, Jimmy Huynh, Jessie Huynh, Crystal Dang, Tiffany Nguyen, Jason Pham, Tommy Nguyen, Terry Nguyen, Andy Ngu, John Nguyen, Toby Nguyen, Jade Nguyen, Lily Ngu, Cayla Tang and Colten Tang. He also leaves behind his two sisters and his three brothers whom he loved and cared for dearly: Phung Tang, Yen Tang, Long Tang, Danh Tang and Lam Tang.

Tuyen was a Major in the Special Force Army Ranger serving alongside the US with the Army of the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was so proud to have served in the army and always loved to talk about his battles and experiences with his family.

Dad was always there for everyone. He loved his family and cared so much for everyone. He puts everyone ahead of him and made sure they were fine before himself. Even when he was sick, he made sure that everyone else was taken care of. He would never complain or tell us he was sick because he does not want anyone to worry for him. Family was everything to him and he loved for everyone to get together. He loved birthdays and family gatherings and that is one thing we will continue to do because that is what Dad would want us to do.

Dad was always there for mom and has always taken care of mom. For 54 years they have shared everything life can offer – together. They were a great team supporting each other in every way.

Dad was hard working and compassionate towards everyone. He taught us many, many things but most importantly, he gave us the ability to know that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never be afraid to give anything a try and never give up.

He was a real perfectionist, and everything had to be in its place. The ear full we would get if something were put back in the wrong place. He hates throwing anything away. If he thinks there was a use for it somewhere down the road, he is saving it. He is no builder but if anything is broken, he will use anything and everything he has to piece it together. It might look like Picasso’s drawing when it is done, but it was done. Dad was as close to being the most perfect Dad anyone could have.

Dad was someone we admire, someone we look up to, someone we are proud of and brag about, someone we cry to, someone we confide in, someone who listens to us and someone we talk to, someone who holds us when we needed it the most, someone who gives us confident and someone we share everything this wonderful life has to offer with. Dad was our number one supporter. Our personal cheerleader rooting us on in everything we do. Dad’s love was unconditional, and this is something we will all cherish from his character. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure knowing him. He will forever be in our hearts and we will miss him tremendously.
