Thomas Henry Franssen

Thomas Henry Franssen, 62, passed away on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 17th, 1961, to Henry and Patrica Franssen.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kari Lynn Franssen; daughters, Lauren Elder and Kaci Franssen; mother, Patricia Franssen; sister, Diane Schowalter; brothers, Gary Franssen and Mark Franssen; granddaughter, Olivia Elder, and numerous family members and friends.

He earned a degree from DeVry Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and worked as a Project Manager for Boeing for almost 35 years and, more recently, Onyx Aerospace. He had a passion for the work that he contributed to the International Space Station. He loved to travel, particularly cruising, and spending time with his family. Many memories were made around campfires and kitchen tables; smoking cigars, enjoying gin and tonics, and playing games with family.

Thomas always had a smile on his face. He was kind, caring, always ready to laugh and joke, and loved his family more than anything. He was adored by his children and left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Crowder Funeral Home, located at 111 W. Medical Center Blvd, Webster, TX 77598. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Thomas’s memory may do so to Cancer Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

  4. A great friend I will sorely miss. God’s calling came way too early for Tom, but we must trust that he knows what is best. Humility and Kindness are two virtues that first come to mind when I think about Tom. Plus, he was wicked smart! We created some great memories camping with our daughters in the YMCA Indian Princess program. His Potawatomi tribe call name was “Mighty Moose”. We also golfed, smoked cigars, and even got gate passes for a fun weekend in Vegas. Goodbye Mighty Moose. We will golf again in Heaven. I hear the bourbon is well aged up there. God Bless.
