Rosemary Eileen Hodges

Rosemary Eileen Hodges, 75, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her most, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer.

Rosemary was a strong, resilient, and deeply loving woman whose warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family touched everyone who knew her. She had a unique ability to find light even in the hardest moments, often bringing laughter to those around her with her quick wit and unmistakable sense of humor.

She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent at the beach—one of her favorite places to relax, reflect, and feel at peace.

Above all else, Rosemary was a devoted mother and Nana. Her love for her family was fierce and unconditional, and she will be remembered for the comfort, strength, and joy she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Werner Schubert and Celestine Magdaline Hartmann, and her beloved daughter, Amy King.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Schubert and his wife, Gail; her children, Shan Hodges, Wade Hodges, and Erin DeWitt and her husband, Jamie DeWitt; her grandchildren, Layla DeWitt (14), JJ DeWitt (9), and Stoneleigh DeWitt (5); her son-in-law, Bruce King; her grandchildren, Nicholas King (36) and his wife Jessica King (33), Braden King (25) and his wife Emily King (25); her great-grandchildren, Carly King (14), Carter King (9), and Asher King (2); her loving partner, Clay Tinkham; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Rosemary will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.

A visitation will be held on April 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sweeny First Baptist Church, 402 North Main Street. A graveside service will follow at Sweeny Cemetery.

  3. Rosemary and I started off as co-workers but soon became friends. We had many adventures, trips to Arkansas, Texas Hill Country many times. Sometimes in her convertible to visit her home town. How I will miss her we could just sit and talk and laugh about the smallest things and comfort each other when needed.
She blessed my life. Rest in peace my friend.
