Matthews, Mary Lynn (nee Tabbert)

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Lynn Matthews announces her passing after an extensive illness, on Friday,  June 11, 2021, at the age of 65 years. She was surrounded by her loving husband, daughter and son at her home. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years, Mike and her children, Travis Justin Matthews, Sr (Holly), and Amber (Chris) St. Jean. Mary will also be fondly remembered by her eight grandchildren to whom she was the best Mamaw to, Justin, Charlie, Katelyn, Lucas, Matthew, and “the triplets” Emmarie Drew, Evyn Grace and Ellyson Hope. By her sister, Tracey Gabos and sister-in-law Nancy (Walt) Magnussen, by her brothers Ken (Linda) Tabbert, Phillip (Gayle) Tabbert, Edward (Marisa) Tabbert, Michael (Sumi) Tabbert and by her brother-in-law John “Dennis” (Carolyn) Matthews.

Mary was predeceased by both her parents Francis and Rachel Tabbert and her father-in-law John Matthews. She leaves behind her dear mother-in-law Helen and her step-mother Pattie.

Mary was an active member of her church and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her long illness she continued to “show up” each and every day for her loved ones.

A Celebration of Life celebrating the memory of Mary will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at Watershed United Methodist Church, 1751 E League City Pkwy, League City, TX 77573, with Rev. Billy Watson officiating. A lunch will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in memory of Mary to the Watershed United Methodist Church, 1751 E League City Pkwy, League City, TX 77573.

  4. I first met Mary about 2 or 3 years ago when I attended Sisters in Christ Bible Study at her home before the pandemic. I so enjoyed meeting her and she always had a sweet smile and hugs for everyone. She will be missed by her Sisters but we know she is with Jesus and is whole again. Praise God.
