Carlos Guerrero Davila
With loving hearts and treasured memories, we celebrate the life of Carlos Guerrero Davila, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was filled with love for his family, dedication to his work, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple joys. Carlos was born to Teofilo Davila Sr. and Alicia Guerrero in Brownsville, Texas, on March 26, 1942. He was the second of eighteen children they were blessed with and held the special distinction of being the eldest son. Growing up in such a large family, Carlos learned early in life the importance of family, hard work, and the bonds that connect generations.
From a young age, Carlos discovered his passion for working on automobiles. What began as an early interest grew into a lifelong career as an automotive mechanic. For Carlos, being a mechanic was more than simply a way to earn a living; it was a calling and a craft he genuinely enjoyed. He took pride in his work, dedicating his hands, knowledge, and talents to a profession he loved until his retirement. Of all the blessings in Carlos’ life, none were more precious to him than his family. He was the proud father of five children, three from his first marriage and two from his second. His children meant the world to him, and that love extended to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many nieces and nephews who were blessed to call him Uncle Carlos. His family was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy, and he cherished the moments they shared. He believed life was meant to be enjoyed. Carlos loved music, celebrations, and the opportunity to gather with those he cared about. He appreciated the laughter, fellowship, and memories that came from spending time with family and friends.
Carlos’ life was not defined simply by the years he lived, but by the love he shared, the work of his hands, the wisdom of his words, and the memories he created with those around him. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and the many friends whose lives he touched. Although his family and friends will deeply miss his voice, his laughter, his advice, and his presence at family gatherings, they will continue to carry his memory in their hearts. Shared stories, family celebrations, and familiar songs will remind them of the man they knew and loved. May his memory continue to bring comfort, his wisdom continue to guide, and the love he shared remain a blessing for generations to come.
Carlos was preceded in death by two siblings who passed in infancy and childhood, his parents Teofilo and Alicia, and his sons Richard S. Davila and John E. Davila.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Darlene, sons Carlos S. Jr. (Deana) and Jerry (Carrie), daughter Alicia, and daughter-in-law Esmeralda; by granddaughters Esmeralda J. Garcia (Danny), Jessica Davila, and Veronica Jones (Eric); and great-grandchildren Gabriel and Elijah Garcia, Xavier Franco, and Audrey, Owen, and Sebastian Jones. He also leaves behind his sisters Emma Burgeron, Vangie Hotchstetler (Johnny), Hope Trent, Linda Sotuyo (Ernest), Coki Barrera, Chris Padilla (Mario), Mary Villareal (Rene), and Cynthia DeAlejandro (Robert); brothers Buddy (Tina), Joe, Henry (Velma), Bobby, Oscar, Peter (Francis), and Michael (Dolores) Davila, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who were all loved and cherished.
