Celia Martinez

Celia Martinez, age 88, made it to heaven singing praises to her King Jesus on October 30, 2026. Celia was born on January 29, 1938, in San Diego, TX and lived there until she married Domingo C. Martinez. She then moved to Pearland, TX where she raised her 7 children. Celia was kind, selfless, and sweet. She had a heart of gold. She loved her family and kept in constant communication with her children. She loved receiving calls from all family members and friends. Her sweet spirit was infectious, and you could not help but fall in love with her.

Celia always took care to ensure she exhibited dignity, beauty, and class. She loved jewelry, singing, dancing, shopping, listening to Tejano music, and watching her “stories.” She was always up for a new movie at the theater and going out to eat for family time. Celia was a strong believer of Jesus Christ. She prayed out of her small prayer book every night and would always say that she prayed to the Lord for all her children and grandchildren.

The love we have for each other as a family was a direct answer to her prayers. We will miss her dearly. She was easy to love, and it was an honor to call her Mom, Grandma, and Tia.

Celia is preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Castillo Martinez, Sr.; her daughter, Lydia Melton and son-in-law, Kenneth Melton, Sr.; her sons, Domingo Martinez, Jr. and Mike Martinez; daughter-in-law, Sandy Rodriguez, and grandson, Patrick Rodriguez. Celia is also preceded in death by her mother and father, Felicita Garay Martinez and Miguel Martinez, Sr., her 5 brothers – Jose Angel Martinez, Luis Martinez, Domingo Martinez, Miguel Martinez, Jr., and Oscar Mallet – and her sister, Elia Lopez.

She is survived by her sister, Maria Elena Sanchez and life partner, Luis Sanchez; her
daughters, Linda Adair and husband, Jim Adair; Laura Martinez Jones and husband, Brent Jones; and her sons, Marty Martinez, and Rudy Martinez and husband, Matt Bloebaum. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

On Sunday, November 8th, 2026, there will be a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 East Broadway St., Pearland, TX 77581. Chaplain Brent Jones to officiate the service. Graveside to follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Alvin, TX.
