Marc Anthony Smith

Marc Anthony Smith, 59, passed away at Michael Debakey VA hospital in Houston, Texas on Monday, August 30, 2021, after a long series of illnesses. 

Marc was born March 14, 1962, to Viola Smith and Willie Bey in Chicago, Illionois. 

Marc confessed a faith in Christ in his teens and was baptized at New Morning Star M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. D.B. Bishop. 

Marc graduated from Farragut H.S. in Chicago, and shortly after joined the United States Army.  Marc served his tour of duty honorably and returned home to Chicago in 1984.  He worked various jobs, but ultimately found a calling for over the road trucking, which led him to be in New York City during the attacks of September 11, 2001.  

Marc was preceded in death by his stepfather, Leroy Epting who raised him from the early age of 2.  

Marc leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Viola Epting of Pearland, TX , father Willie Bey of Chicago, IL , sons Brandon M. Richardson Smith of Peoria, IL and Braxton J. Richardson of Carpentersville, IL, brothers Anthony C. Epting (Melissa) of Menifee, CA Kareem M. Epting (Rosalyn) of Scottsdale, AZ sisters Tonia George , Adrian Wiley of Chicago, IL, and Henrietta Bey (Lionel Williams) of Hattiesburg, MS and (Special loving and kind friends, Tony Hickman, Leon Jerrels of Pearland, TX and Etta and Jerome Armstead of Angleton, TX) nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

There will be a visitation Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a service to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland, TX.
