Laura Marie Martino

Laura Marie Martino, 59, of Dickinson, Texas, passed away October 22, 2022. Laura was born February 19, 1963 in Texas City, Texas to parents, Charles Ottino Martino and Mary Therese (Petschelt) Martino. She was raised in Dickinson, and was a graduate of Dickinson High School.

Laura had a kind heart and a giving spirit. She chose to do things that helped people. She worked as a teacher’s aide at K.E. Little Elementary School helping with the children. She also worked as a care giver at a nursing home. But Laura’s helping was not limited to human beings. She loved animals and tried to save as many as she could. All her pets were rescues and she donated to the Humane Society whenever she could. She loved her fur family as much as her human family and we frequently received cards signed by Laura and her cats, Angelo and Julia. Laura was a member of Third Order Franciscans of Annunciation.

Laura is preceded in death by her father, Charles O. Martino, daughter, Andrea Raquel Martino and sister, Merci Ann Martino.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, mother, Mary Therese Martino; sister, Donna Willhelm and husband, Joseph, brother, Charles L. Martino (Rocky) and wife Terry, and eight nieces; Adrienne, Nichole, Ginette, Jacquelyn, Melissa, Tori, Charlotte and Brandee Lynn and their families.

In her honor, there will be a memorial service on Friday, November 11th at 10:30 am at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Third Order Franciscans of Annunciation or the Humane Society of Dickinson.

      • I love you Laura and I can’t believe you left us at such a young age. I will miss you laugh and talking about the Astros. Laura was a huge fan of sports & got great pleasure rooting for her teams. She did not deserve the cards she was dealt. She and I prayed for each other and our families & fur babies. Such a wonderful…fun..loving…biggest heart & soul…..precious child of God…you are seeing your sister Mercy and your daughter who was your greatest loss. I will miss you my friend….”sista” (as we called each other)…LOVE TO YOU BABY GIRL…..SEE YOU AGAIN ONE DAY. MOM & DAD WILL SEE YOU AGAIN TOO….RIP SWEET ANGEL OF GOD! YOU DESERVED SO MUCH MORE IN LIFE HERE ON EARTH….KITT

  10. My heart will forever be broken by the sad loss of my beautiful friend. She has the most loving soul a person could have. We talked weekly and she always asked about my family. I loved that she cherished animals and how she adored her cats! I KNOW she is at peace with our Lord and he has his arms wrapped tightly around this beautiful angel. I will miss her so much.
And like she said to me, “Shine, Sister, shine!”
    I love you Laura!♥️

  12. Laura Martino, Hi I wished I drove as we both had that issue. I would have seen you more, as you were a fine lady with a heart of Gold, you would have given your last meal, shirt or anything to anyone in need you will be missed, by so many. May you rest in the loving arms of our savior. Till we meet again. But now you can be with your daughter and be at peace from this cruel world.

  14. Mrs .Whelan I am touched yo hear you took Angelo and Julia from the shelter. Laura got Julia from a cat I rescued and because she’s a pretty cat, Laura named her after Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman. Laura was a Franciscan who prayed and suffered, and was little known for her gifts from Christ beneath her exterior. She attended our Dickinson Tau branch of the Annunciation Franciscans monthly. It’s hard to not rejoice on the sorrow of her leaving, hoping in the eternal beauty of Jesus and His Saints she followed and now shares in their peace and love unending! Jesus be with all her loved ones.

  15. Laura and I went to high school together. I was always envious of her natural beauty 🙂 – beautiful brown hair, smile and eyes that were lit from inside indicating far more than surface good looks. She was kind and nice; never had a mean thing to say about anyone. Thankful that she is now with the Lord and happy.

  17. I have known Laura Martino since I was 12 yrs old….biggest heart and soul you will ever know. We reunited when Harvey hit & she stayed with me & my family a few months….we had a blast laughing and carrying on. She loved her fur babies as she loved people in her life. So unfair all the suffering she endured (losing her only baby girl) to everything else she went through. She is seeing her daughter & her sister once again and I know she is a angel. She loved God and went to church devoted to our Lord Jesus Christ. I will miss you “little sista”…..until we see each other again. RIP
