John Harris Beard, 83, died on December 6, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He was born on December 29, 1937 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to John Honnoll Beard and Velma Harris Beard.

The Beard family moved to Houston in 1950. John graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in 1956, and continued studies at The University of Texas.

His career was in bank information systems. In Austin, he was associated with Mutual Savings, Burroughs Corporation, and First City National Bank. He served Systematics, Inc. and Alltel Corporation in New York City, Wilmington, Del. And Hamilton, Ohio. He retired to the Clear Lake Area in 2002.

John was a member and Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, League City, Texas. He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution, the Jamestowne Society, Magna Charta Barons, and Friends of Bill W.

John is preceded in death by his father John Honnoll Beard, brother Robert L. Beard, and partner James L. Anderson. He is survived by his mother, Velma Harris Beard of Houston, sister Sue Kemp of Austin and husband Donnie, Tom Beard of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and wife Ambrosia, sister-in-law Kathy Beard of Fordyce, Arkansas, nephews Greg Beard of Pearland, Galen Kemp of Austin, and nieces Kristi Flatt of Friendswood, Shannon Franklin of Seadrift, plus eight grandnieces and two grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2508 St. Christopher Road, League City, on December 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
