Some people simply go through life, and then there are those who make life a whole lot more fun for everyone around them. Kristi was definitely one of those people!
Words can never alone be able to describe how Kristi impacted those around her. She wasn’t the girl who watched from the sidelines – she was in the game with all her heart. With a personality that could light up a room, an easy laugh, and a gift for finding humor in just about any situation, Kristi knew how to live life to the fullest. She loved to laugh, loved to have fun, and especially loved making others laugh.
Kristi made everyone feel that they were her very best friend. She was loyal to her people. Kristi didn’t have friends, she had a Tribe. The Turtle Tribe. In 2023 when Kristi was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, her friends rallied around in full force and the Turtle Tribe was born to support her. Her beloved Daddy always called her Turtle, so it was fitting that we honored her with that tradition.
She had a special gift for bringing people together. Her sense of humor, playful spirit, and love for those around her made her someone you wanted to spend time with. If Kristi was involved, chances were there would be laughter, a good story, and probably a memory that would be talked about for years. These qualities were the perfect fit to give back to the church she loved so much as a greeter. New Hope Church provided Kristi with a strong spiritual home, a strong faith community, and an unmatched support system.
In addition to being an incredibly vivacious person, she was also an amazing legal secretary for Hartline Barger law firm in Houston, TX. Kristi stayed dedicated to her job – even while sitting at MD Anderson, she would make us put her laptop in the bed with her so she could work while getting chemo. Kristi’s last day was unforgettably special as so many of her work family came to see her.
Kristi is survived by her most loving Husband, Jeff. To say that Jeff took amazing care of Kristi is a gross understatement. Jeff did absolutely everything in his power to make her happy, comfortable, and healthy. He is lost without Kristi. Kristi also leaves behind a loving brother, Marc Graham and his wife Jackie. Marc made sure to check on Kristi each and every morning – he would be on the road in a heartbeat if she needed him. Kristi leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless stories, and family and friends who will forever be grateful for the joy she brought into their lives.
And while our hearts are heavy, we know Kristi would much rather have us remembering the good times, laughing at the stories, and celebrating the wonderful life she lived. So, in true Kristi fashion, tell the funny stories, laugh until your sides hurt, hug the people you love, and don’t pass up an opportunity to have a little fun or add a theme. Because if Kristi taught us anything, it’s that life is too short not to enjoy it!
Rest in peace, sweet Kristi. Heaven just got a whole lot more entertaining!
She was laughter. She was love. She was fun. She was unforgettable.
