Jesse G. Lopez

Jesse G. Lopez, 92, of Texas City passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at UTMB ICU in Galveston.  He was born on October 15, 1925 in Concrete, Texas the son of Mateo Lopez and Braulia Garza Lopez.

Jesse was a resident of Texas City for 41 years. He served in the United States Navy, was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church of La Marque and retired from Todd’s Shipyard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife of 58 years Alifonsa and sons Jesse and Danny.

Jesse was a loving son, husband, father and popo.

He is survived by his daughters; Stella Sandoval (Jose), Diana Papillion and Linda Ortiz; grandchildren; Lisa Ramos, Belinda Sandoval, Christina Flowers (Wesley), Anthony Medellin (Jennifer), Mandy Medina (Jesse), Jason Perez, Roxann Ortiz (Alex) and Albert Ortiz (Irma), fourteen great-grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers.

A visitation will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home La Marque with a Vigil at 7:30pm.  A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating.  Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.  A Reception will be at the church hall following the entombment.

In lieu of flowers the family request Memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, TN.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UTMB ICU; Tweet, Sara, Adam, Hannah, Lyndsey, Brittney and Cat RT.

    I regret we were not able to attend your beloved Jesse Lopez’s funeral!
    May he rest in eternal peace and rest beside his beloved wife! We will never forget his kind heart and beautiful smile!
