Ignacia Martinez, 97 passed away at her residence in La Marque, TX on Sunday, August 17, 2025.  She was born on March 4, 1928 in Waelder, TX to Odilon and Tomasa Martinez.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Celestino Martinez and her daughter Tomasa Martinez. Ignacia is survived by her three daughters; Gloria Zepeda, Consuelo Martinez and Helen Zile and son Enrique Martinez.

Ignacia was a Catholic and attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque; she was a homemaker and took care of her family while our father worked.  Everyone loved Ignacia‘s cooking especially her pancakes. Her hobbies were gardening and sewing, she had a green thumb for her beautiful red roses and flowers, but sewing was mom’s favorite, she would sew beautiful clothes for her friends and especially for her family.

The family decided to move to La Marque in 1979 where she decided it was time to work and applied for a position in the cafeteria for the LMISD.

A very special thank you to Harbor Hospice, especially Nurse Heather and Arnie who took wonderful care of our mother, a special thanks to Village Medical Nurse Practitioner Junhul Jia MSN, FNP-C who came to Ignacia’s residence to care for mom and a very, very special thank you to our sister Consuelo who took excellent and wonderful care to make our mother comfortable towards the end.

Pallbearers are Billie Wilson, Christopher Zepeda, Julian Figgs, Michael Martinez, Micah Mireles and Ryan Zepeda.

A Rosary will be at 9:30am with the Funeral Service at 10:00am on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with Msgr. James Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
