Elvin Leon Maxwell
Elvin Leon Maxwell, 88, resident of LaMarque, Texas passed from this life on Saturday, August 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. Leon was born August 29, 1927 to proud parents Willis and Ivy Maxwell in Gilbert, La.
Leon proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy. He was a member of Highlands Baptist Church as well as a past minister. He served in many churches for 66 years of his ministry.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Maxwell.
He is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn White, Kathy & Vernon Bates, Lydia & John Hyde, and daughter-in-love Vickey & Robert Goerz; sons, Larry & Angela Maxwell, Randy & Julia Maxwell, and Scott & Laura Maxwell; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Oleal Linton and Carlene Lutrick.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 9:30 am, with a service at 10:00 am at Highlands Baptist Church, LaMarque, Texas. Interment follows at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent in his name to Texas Baptist Encampment, Palacios, Texas or Highlands Baptist Church.

Words cannot express the love and appreciation our family has had for this wonderful, Godly man since being blessed with his and Nell’s friendshsip almost thirty years ago. Although present circumstances prevent us from traveling to Texas for visitation and services, our thoughts and prayers are with their precious family. He will be missed on this earth but welcomed home by his Heavenly Father.
