Doris “Jean” Claiborn, 82, passed away on June 11, 2026 at her home in Friendswood, Texas.  She was born on November 5, 1943, in Galveston, Texas to Ben and Ida Cosby. Jean is survived by: her husband, Jimmie Claiborn; daughter, Janet Garner; sons, Wallace (Susan) Spratling and Michael (Candace) Claiborn, sisters, Barbara Brinchman, Joyce (Kenneth) Davenport, Linda (Dean) Butcher and Jo Caroll Banta; brother, Ben Michael (Cindi) Cosby; grandchildren, Kalyssa Walker, Haley Garner, Logan (Kayla) Marini, Ryan (Amanda) Claiborn, Justin Claiborn, James Spratling and Josh (Stephanie) Spratling; great grandchildren, Tallulah Claiborn, Caliope Marini, Rosalie Spratling, Theodore Claiborn, Tennyson Claiborn, Timothee Claiborn and numerous family members and friends.

Jean worked as a Medical Assistant for Beeler Manske Clinic until she retired in 1997. As a mother, she took her kids to church every Sunday, sewed her kids clothes, knitted afghans, and cooked meals every night. She loved playing any games but especially board games with her children and grandchildren. In her later years she loved antiquing with her sisters and enjoying retreats or traveling and hiking with Jimmie. She was a loving mother, wife , sister and loyal friend to many.  Her zest for fun and life will be missed.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 15th from 9:30 – 11:30 am at Crowder Funeral Home (Webster), 111 East Medical Center Blvd., Webster, TX, 77598.  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, 7301 Memorial St., Hitchcock, TX 77563.
