Dennis Cupitt

Dennis Cupitt, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of 79, in Webster, TX.

Dennis was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island as the second of three children to Thomas and Lu Cupitt on February 8, 1947. He is survived by his wife Margaret; brother Larry Cupitt and his wife Mary Marsha Cupitt; sister Carol Cupitt-Parks and her husband Richard Parks; son Sean Cupitt and daughter-in-law Amy Cupitt of League City, TX; son Jason Cupitt and daughter-in-law Kara Cupitt of Burnet, TX; son Brandon Cupitt and daughter-in-law Katie Cupitt of League City, TX; grandsons Stephen and Joshua Cupitt, Will and Jude Cupitt, Ryker Cupitt, and granddaughters Britten Cupitt, Abby Cupitt, and Molly Cupitt.

Dennis’ family moved from Rhode Island to the Pensacola, Florida, area when he was only four. There he grew up riding his bike, playing baseball, and caring for his dog, Waggie. He graduated from Escambia High School and attended University of Florida, where he obtained both a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a MS in Mechanical Engineering. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret, in Gainesville, in 1968.
He moved with his wife to Fort Walton Beach, FL and began his career in aeronautical and aerospace engineering. With a family now of a wife and three young boys between the ages of 11 months and 3 years, he moved once again; this time to Houston, TX.
As they grew, the boys all stayed close to Houston, straying as far as the Austin area, which was fantastic for Dennis and Margaret to travel, often with their dog Max in tow, to see the children and grandchildren.

Dennis placed the utmost value on his family and Christian faith. Dennis and Margaret attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay, TX, where he ensured that his children developed a lifelong Christian faith, and modeled Christian behavior in both word and deed.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; peace-maker; loving abundantly and increasing joy wherever he went.

  1. I am truly saddened by the passing of Dennis. It was a genuine pleasure and honor for me to have worked with Dennis, especially in joint software testing with our Russian partners on the International Space Station Program. It was quite an experience to share a trip to Moscow with Dennis.

Dennis was a dedicated worker who focused on details and completeness.

Outside of work, we enjoyed Dennis’ mixed support of the University of Texad and the University of Florida, his Alma Mater..

    Dennis will be missed.

  3. Dennis was a good friend and a great engineer that was easy to work with. During the many years I worked with him, we did joint tests with the Russians on the International Space Station software. Dennis provided requirements for the guidance, navigation and control testing. My role was to generate procedures and scripts to implement those requirements. I remained in contact with Dennis after I retired and moved away. He will be missed.
