Immediately moving to Texas he began raising horses and participating in local rodeos and bought a boat and became a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed rebuilding car engines, doing carpentry work, and was a ham radio enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing against his sons and very good family friends (the Williams family; especially Robert Williams). Chuck could drop a stroke or two with the best of them. Chuck even had time to get an airplane pilot license. His favorite pastime likely being taking as many cruises as he could with his wife and family.
