Mary Elizabeth Cogswell

In Loving Memory of

Mary Elizabeth Cogswell

February 14, 1948 – October 28, 2026

Mary Heitmann Cogwsell, age 78, passed away on October 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendships, and love that will forever live in the hears of those who knew her.

Mary was a happy soul who had a special gift for making people feel welcome. She never me a stranger. Everyone she encountered was given a little piece of her heart, and she had a way of making even a brief conversation feel like a lasting friendship. Her laughter, warmth, and genuine love for people made her someone who was truly unforgettable.

Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with her dear friends, sharing a few cold beers, telling stories, and making memories. She understood that life’s greatest treasures weren’t things, but the people we share it with. Her friendships meant the world to her, and she leaves behind countless people who will remember her smile, her spirit, and the joy she brought into their lives.

Mary’s greatest family blessing was her daughter and best friend, Michelle R. Cogswell. Their bond was one of love, friendship, and a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured.

Mary was a proud grandmother to Chelsey L. Cormier and her husband, Eric Trevio; Shelbi L. Cormier and her husband, Louie Rodriguez; Joseph W. Novosad; and Brantley G. Novosad. She was also blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter, Luci Valentine Cormier-Rodriguez, who brought another special generation of love into her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Pat” Cogswell, who passed away ten years before her. Though their time apart was long, we find comfort in knowing that Mary and Pat are now reunited. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Ruby May Melton her father, William Heitmann; her sister, Loreane Byrm; and her brother, William Heitmann, Jr.

Mary leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years, but in the lives she touched, the friendships she made, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.

Viewing: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m.

Following the services, Mary will be laid to rest at Alta Loma Cemetery Santa Fe, Texas, where she will be placed beside her beloved mother.

Until we meet again, Mary. Save us a seat, and perhaps a cold beer. You will never be forgotten.
