Carol Jeanne Simmons

Carol Jeanne Simmons, passed away peacefully January 4, 2023, in League City, TX at the age of 73.  Carol was born March 7, 1949 in Fort Stockton, TX to Albert and Lillie Bean. After graduating from Fort Stockton High School, Carol attended college at West Texas A&M on a music scholarship where she attained her Bachelor’s degree. She would eventually complete her Master’s degree in Education at Sul Ross State University. In college, Carol met Larry Simmons and they were happily married for 48 years. Larry and Carol settled in Big Spring, TX where they raised their two children.

She retired from Big Spring Independent School District as a teacher, leaving an everlasting impression on many elementary students over the years.  Upon retirement, Larry and Carol spent many years enjoying their lake house on Lake LBJ in Burnet, TX hosting many friend and family gatherings.  Larry and Carol would eventually move to League City to be close to their children and grandchildren. Carol’s love for teaching never ceased as she continued to heavily participate in the upbringing and education of her grandchildren, instilling the qualities that made her so special. Carol enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, and spending every minute she could with her grandchildren.

No matter the trials and tribulations she was going through, she would always put her family’s needs above her own. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and was loved by all. She will be dearly missed on this earth, but never forgotten.

Carol has been reunited with her late husband, Larry Simmons, and parents, Albert and Lillie Bean in heaven.

She is survived by her son, Cody Simmons, wife Kristen; daughter, Breck Defee, husband Dustin; grandchildren: Tyler Simmons, Ashley Simmons, Lauren Simmons, Taylor Simmons, Leyton Hoffpauir, Beckett Defee, Saylor Defee, and Maddox Defee; sisters, Wanda Shrum, husband Hank; Jayne Bean, husband Patrick Nesby; Anna Underwood, husband Patrick, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a memorial service honoring her life following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland.

  1. I loved being a grandmother with Carol to our grandchildren. She and Larry and Dick and I had so much fun in our roles as grandparents. I am so happy my daughter met and married her son who means the world to us.

You will be missed each day, but you’re in our hearts and memories.
