Wade and I have many happy memories with Uncle Homer and Aunt Bonnie, both in Texas City and the beautiful home they built in Starks. In Texas City, I remember playing the piano while we all sang hymns. If I am not mistaken, hers was a lovely alto voice.
Bonnie always had a sweet smile on her face when she greeted anyone. Great cook–oh my, what a meal she could put together. I was particularly fond of her from scratch, old fashioned peach cobbler. The crust was my favorite part.
And her quilts! Beautiful!!! I so wish we had bought one of her all hand stitched masterpieces all those years ago. They were amazing.
Twilla, you were everything your mother needed and wanted her last few years. She was blissfully happy.
You will be greatly missed, Aunt Bonnie.
My sweet Aunt Bonnie. I love you and will miss you greatly, and I promise to get that cutting off your rose bush.
Vicki,
You have been such a living, steadfast companion and caregiver for many years. As I have watched you care for Ms. Bonnie, you have done all that is humanly possible for her and some beyond that by God’s grace.
Never have any doubts about your care for your mother; you deserve sainthood for the wonderful care you’ve given her for almost as long as I have known you, even when she still lived a few hours away. It is difficult to lose a mother; but you have cared for her beautifully and sacrificially. May God bless your years to come with health and peace and happiness and rest.
Aunt Bonnie, was a hard worker, loved garden vegetables. She was a very good cook. And she loved playing many different kinds of games cards, dominoes all of them. I think I admired her most for her giving spirit. Aunt Bonnie and Joy work of any kind and she was a great craftsman and she loved her family friends and enjoyed going to church. Everyone Who knew her will have good memories of her.
I miss you, mom. Words don’t come; only tears. I ventured out to Hobby Lobby to get flowers to make an arrangement for your room… I stopped dead in my tracks as I came upon and stared at the Christmas decor and tears began falling. I can’t face that; I hope it gets better in the months ahead. I miss your “good morning” even if you told me multiple times in a day. I miss kissing your cheek every night. Thank you for always being there, and for being the perfect mom. I imagine you with Jesus and … I can only imagine❤️
