Badie Vaughn Sawyer, Jr.

Badie Vaughn Sawyer, Jr., 70, of League City, Texas, passed away on December 21, 2020 in Pasadena, Texas. Vaughn was born November 23, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana to loving parents Badie Vaughn Sawyer, Sr. and Mae Etta Sawyer. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Hearne, Texas where he was raised, fell in love with his high school sweetheart and married Barbara Ann Franks on June 26, 1971.

He went on to co-own Hearne’s Western Auto with his father-in-law and raise his family as members of the Grace United Methodist Church. He and Barbara moved to Metairie, Louisiana for several years where he was with Lowe’s. They then moved to Dickinson, TX where he transferred with Lowe’s at the Bay Area and Baytown locations. Later they settled in League City, TX where he managed the Auto Zone store in Seabrook, TX. He loved his family, his work, his play (especially family road trips, fishing, and golf), and the people he met throughout. Vaughn’s life provided the most wonderful example of family dedication, perseverance, faith, humor, and love to his two children and four grandchildren.

Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents Badie Vaughn Sawyer, Sr. and Mae Etta Sawyer, an infant sister, Barbara, father-in-law Alvah Franks, and sister-in-law Pam Sawyer.

Vaughn is survived by his loving wife Barbara, mother-in-law Dorothy Franks, son and daughter-in-law of Lubbock, TX, Eric and Lisa Sawyer, daughter and son-in-law of Dickinson, TX, Erin and Trevor Reifel, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Mary Brown of Terrytown, LA, Keith Sawyer of Jennings, LA, and Rusty and Donna Sawyer of Fulshear, TX.  Four grandchildren Margaret Rose Sawyer, Vaughn Sawyer, Tabitha Reifel, and Wyatt Reifel.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A visitation for Vaughn will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in his honor at the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12:30 PM.
