  1. I was overwhelmed with sadness when informed of Laverne’s passing. All the I came to know and love about TX Kerry Blues and their owners was because of an invitation from Laverne for this season-Wheaten, but novice-Kerry owner to come to her home for a meeting of her fellow TX Kerry Blue Club members. This is a major loss of a wonderful friend; and a very great lady.

  2. So very sorry to learn this great lady has left this world. My sincere sympathy to the family. I remember talking with her years ago when we had our very first KBT. Her line was in back of the dog we owned.

  3. We are deeply saddened to hear Laverne had passed away. We moved from California to Texas in the early 80’s and through our mutual love for the Kerry Blue Terrier, we met Laverne, who in turn introduced us to the wonderful members of The Texas Kerry Blue Terrier Club and who later became dear friends and part of our family.
Over the years Laverne devoted much of her time as President of the Texas Kerry Blue Terrier Club, served as a Governor on the Board of the United States Kerry Blue Terrier Club (USKBTC) and later went on to fulfill two terms as Club President.
As an AKC Breeder of Kerry Blue Terriers under the “KATIEC” prefix, Laverne was a true custodian of her beloved breed.
Laverne will have left a remarkable void in the lives of the people who she called friends and for her friends who so lovingly found joy in a KATIEC Kerry Blue.
Rest In Peace Laverne, you will always be remembered with fondness.

  4. I am very sorry to see this, and deeply saddened. I met Laverne while I lived with my late aunt, Sara E. Trotter. I often was called upon to show her Kerry female if Sara was busy in another ring. The three of us were regulars at a Mexican food restaurant in Arlington (the name escapes me @ this time). Laverne always drank hot coffee with her food there. As a teenager, I thought that was funny. Laverne always had a paperback book with her, and would read it while we were eating/talking there. She was a friendly, highly intelligent individual who I last talked to back in 2011. She will be deeply missed.
