Athena Rose Patelis

Falling Asleep of Athena Rose Patelis
With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of thy servant where there is not pain, nor any sorrow, nor any sighing, but Life everlasting.

It is with heavy hearts but also with Hope in the Resurrection that we inform you of the falling
asleep of the servant of God, Athena Rose Patelis
Athena fulfilled her calling as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and as a wise and compassionate counselor to many individuals. Athena matched her name meaning “wisdom”. She attained her Masters and PhD Degrees in Psychology from Biola University in California. With God given wisdom she served as a Christian Therapist for over thirty years at the Krist Samaritan Counseling Center in Houston Texas.
Of late, with a view toward further assisting clients, Athena was on track to attain her nursing degree from UTMB Galveston. However this was not to be completed as she entered into an intense but fiercely and bravely fought battle with breast cancer. We find comfort in knowing she found peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 25, 2026.
In her latter days, Athena reveled in discovering more of her Greek Orthodox faith.
We believe Athena was welcomed into her eternal home by the loving arms of her father
Christos Patelis, paternal grandparents Spyros and Athena Patelis, maternal grandparents
Robert and Rosa Hall, and numerous other relatives and friends. She is survived by her mother Irma Patelis; Brother Spyros Patelis and his wife Jeni and their sons Christos, Phaedon, Constantinos, Meletios, and Elias; Her sister Daphne Patelis Orlando and her husband Ron and their children Avisette and Ronald.
Services will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at St John the Theologian Greek Orthodox
Church at 202 N Walnut, Webster TX 77598. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m., Trisagion service from 11-12:00 noon; Makaria meal in Marinos Hall (next door) at 12 noon. 1:45 burial at Mt. Olivet cemetery 7801 Gulf Freeway, Dickinson TX 77539.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a gift to the St John Building Fund as a loving tribute to Athena’s memory.

  5. I am deeply saddened by the passing of your beloved Athena. She was so much more to me than a patient—she was a dear friend, and someone whose kindness, strength, and spirit made a lasting impact on my life. It was a true honor to care for her and to know her. Her courage and grace inspired everyone around her, including me.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and I hope you find comfort in knowing how many lives she touched.
I would love to plant a flower or tree in my garden in her memory, something beautiful that will remind me of her every time I see it. If you happen to know her favorite flower or plant, it would mean so much to me if you could share it. I would be honored to grow something that she loved.
    With deepest sympathy,
    Coley Tatyrek, RN
