Alice Johnson McDonald

Alice Johnson McDonald, 91, passed into glory on January 17, 2022. She was born August 25, 1930 in New York City, NY, the first child of Viola and Lewis Johnson.

Alice met her college sweetheart Bryant McDonald at UT Austin and they married in 1950. She followed up her work at UT with a masters from U of H. She completed her academic studies with a PhD in counseling from Texas A&M/Commerce at age seventy. In 1998, Alice co-authored a college textbook for therapists.

Alice and Bryant spent thirty-five years of retirement in Rockwall, TX, although Alice never wanted to retire. She worked for the Episcopal Church as a marriage and family counselor and completed her counseling career in private practice.

Alice served her Lord faithfully as a member of altar guild, Order of St. Luke, bible study leader, and in the prison ministry Women Set Free while living in Rockwall.

Alice made friends easily, was a great cook and loved to entertain. She was proud of her two girls, Janet and Susan and loved that they had followed her into education.

Alice is survived by her children; Janet, husband Lonny Fuller, and Susan, husband Randy Vaughn; grandchildren: Isaac, wife Mandy, Elizabeth Sampson, Landon Vaughn, and Victoria Vaughn; great grandchild: Catherine Fuller; brothers: Lewis Johnson, wife Judy, and Charles Johnson, wife Grace; as well as nieces and nephews.
