Minnie “Cookie” Leisenring

Minnie “Cookie” Leisenring, 95, passed away on April 29, 2024, in Nassau Bay, TX. She was born on October 10, 1928, Houston, Texas.

Cookie’s career included work for several federal government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, Small Business Administration and NASA – Johnson Space Center.  After a long and fulfilling career with NASA, she retired from federal service and then continued to work for three aerospace contractor companies – ASI, GB Tech and The Boeing Company.

She had a passion for traveling and enjoyed numerous trips to many different countries, with visits to almost every state in the United States.  She loved her Houston Texans where she’d been a season ticket holder since 2002.  Her football passion began as a season ticket holder for the Houston Oilers.  She also enjoyed meeting friends for Mexican food and a margarita at her favorite restaurant, Mamacita’s, with her favorite waiter, Wilson Gomez.  She also loved dancing, music, and the theatre. Additionally, Cookie was ordained and installed as a Deacon at Webster Presbyterian Church and shared her love and service with fellow church members.

Cookie is survived by her sister Linda Green; niece Robyn Metcalf and spouse Travis; nephew Bradley Smith and spouse, Tonya; and niece Shelley Buchman; niece Nancy Brevick and spouse, Charlie; nephew Jim Zimmerman and spouse, Pat; and niece Mary Chapman; niece Anna Ruth Beers; niece Bonnie Deister; great-niece Nicole Rooch and great-great-niece, Trinity Carranza; great-nephews Brady Smith and John-Anthony Borsi.  She is also survived by her close friends Carl and Deborah Conder, and son, Vincent Conder and by numerous other close friends who loved her deeply.

She is preceded in death by husband, James Greig Leisenring, mother, Ruby Keowen Mathes, father, Delbitt Mathes, sister, Betty Allen, brother Joseph Mathes, and very special friend, Ross Carle.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Conder, John-Anthony Borsi, Sean Riegert, Kevin Riegert, Carlos Noriega and Rusty Laird.

Cookie’s celebration of life includes a visitation on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, Webster, TX. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 10:00 am at Webster Presbyterian Church, 201 West NASA Road One, Webster, TX 77598, with a reception to follow at the church.  Burial immediately follows the reception at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.  Those desiring to honor Cookie’s memory may wish to contribute to the Webster Presbyterian Church or to another charity of choice.

    We are going to miss you. You were Legend and you still are. You lived life to the fullest every day.
    We loved to hear your stories of all your travels through out the world and all the fun you had with your Family and your many friends.
    We really enjoyed hanging out with you and having brunches on Sunday’s at Mamacita’s, while your favorite Mariachis serenaded you and Wilson lavished you with all the attention you so deserved.
    We are so happy to have met you and become friends with you. We all want so badly to be just like you and live life to the fullest every day all day. You are a true INSPIRATION to us all.
