Anthony “Tony” Michael Emmite

Anthony “Tony” Michael Emmite, 81, a lifetime resident of Dickinson, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Serenity Gardens Assisted Living in Dickinson, Texas.  Tony was born in Dickinson, Texas on June 25, 1942, to Salvatore and Annie (Scrofne) Emmite.  Tony was the youngest child of 5 children: Joseph, Mike, Nancy, and Frank.  Tony was preceded in death by his father Salvatore, mother Annie, brothers Joseph, Mike and Frank, and sister Nancy.

He was a lifetime and devoted member of the Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson where he served as the Head Usher for over 25 years.  He loved his church family and was happy to serve.

His employment began in 1958 when he was employed by Wah Chang Corporation (Tin Smelter) as summer help, and then in 1962, he was employed at Galveston County Press (a local newspaper).  From 1962 to 1965, he was employed as a Movie Projector Operator for the Hollywood Theater in Dickinson.  He returned to Wah Chang Corporation (Tin Smelter) as a full-time employee from 1965 to 1969.  In 1965, he obtained his Master Electrician’s license and worked as a master electrician and sole owner of Emmite Electric Company from 1965 to 2005.  In 1969, he began his employment with the Clear Creek Independent School District as their Operations Superintendent, and in 1991, he was promoted to their Energy Manager until his retirement in 1997.

He graduated from the Dickinson Citizens Police Academy Class of XXIV (24) in May, 2014, and then he joined the DCPAAA (Dickinson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association), and he was an active member of the Citizens on Patrol program. He was the “Alumni Member of the Year”, and for many years, he was awarded the “Alumni Member with the Most Volunteer Hours” serving over 1,000 hours a year during his volunteer duty.  He loved this organization and the Dickinson Police Department.  He proudly served and volunteered to help whenever he was needed.

Tony was raised in a great big loving Italian family!  He had lots of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Tony loved his family and friends, and he was so proud of his nieces and nephews.

Tony is survived by his sisters-in-law:  Lena Rose (Barnett) Emmite and Sue (Ferguson) Emmite, and his nieces and nephews:  Diane (Emmite) Hensley and husband, Burl; Camille Emmite; Mary Ann (Emmite) Pierce and husband, Gary; Nancy (Emmite) Click; Joseph P. Emmite, Jr.; Frank Salvatore Emmite and wife, Amanda; Dana (Melancon) Watson and husband, David; Michael Melancon; and Kenneth Melancon.

Also, survived by great nieces and nephews:  Kim Garcia and husband, Jose; Patrick O’Neal; Darren O’Neal; Stacie Louise (Pierce) Ray and husband, Larry; Travis Duane Pierce and wife, Shannon; Jamie Nicole (Click) Martin and husband, Bubba; Elisha Elaine (Emmite) Szanyi and husband, Michael; Shallee Kaye (Emmite) Biondo and husband, Jason; and Frank Anthony Emmite.  Great-great nieces and nephews:  Kylie Ray, Callen Ray, Dayton Pierce, Bailey Rose Click, Slade Joseph Click, Tyler Martin, Macie Rae Martin, Mason Phillips, Paetyn Phillips, Keegan Pettus, Adelynn Szanyi, Emilia Biondo and Wesley Biondo.

Also, his extended loving family:  Isabel Carabantes, Fredy Rodriguez, Enrique Carabantes, Tony Carabantes, and Gabriela (Carabantes) Badillo.

The pallbearers will be Frank Salvatore Emmite; Frank Anthony Emmite; Enrique Carabantes; Tony Carabantes; Juan Pantoja; and Hilario Cruz.

The honorary pallbearers will be Fredy Rodriguez; Diego Cruz; Ivan Morales; Antonio Badillo; Don Salvato; and Pedro Marquez.

A visitation will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 West, in Dickinson on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  There will be a funeral mass on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, 300 FM 517 East, in Dickinson.  Graveside services will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.
