Stanley August Wong, of Seabrook, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Friendswood, Texas, at the age of 87. He was born on August 12, 1939, in Puʻunene, Hawaii, to Fang Tai Wong and May Chow Wong.

Stanley was a devout Christian whose faith and devotion to Christ were central to his life. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a generous heart and an easy warmth toward others. He had an especially tender heart for children and animals, especially dogs, who seemed to recognize his kind and gentle nature. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in his daughter and grandchildren.

Stanley was a lifelong sports enthusiast. As a student at Maryknoll High School in Hawaii, he was a star basketball player, captain of his team, and earned the nickname “Jumping Jack Stan”. His love of sports continued throughout his life; he enjoyed watching basketball, baseball and football, participated in a bowling league, and loved golf and fishing. Following high school, Stanley proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1958 and serving for nearly five years. Stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, he served with the 86th Air Division and attained the rank of Airman First Class before receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.  His time in the Air Force also gave him an opportunity to continue the athleticism that had been such a large part of his younger years. A naturally gifted athlete, he entered the hop, step and jump – now known as the triple jump – on a whim at the encouragement of a friend. He won and continued advancing through successive levels of competition, eventually reaching international competition. Following his military service, Stanley went on to enjoy a long career in the title industry. He spent many years living and working in California before eventually moving to Texas to be closer to his daughter and her family. Although he made homes on the mainland, Hawaii always remained an important part of who Stanley was and held a special place in his heart.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Perdue, and her husband, Trey; his grandchildren, Madeleine, Derek and Clara Perdue, and his sister Priscilla Sagon.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.

Stanley will return home to Hawaii, where he will be interred at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii at a later date.
