Stevens Thomson Mason Comstock, of Tiki Island, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Houston, Texas at the age of 82. He was born on September 10, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Clyde Nelson Comstock and Adelaide Mason Comstock. He grew up in a lively household with his three siblings, Clyde, Betsy, and Christine. Though his early years kept everyone on their toes, he learned from life’s hard knocks and his fiercely independent nature, quick wit, and generous heart made him deeply cherished by those who knew him best.

In the 1960s, Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police dog handler alongside his canine partner, Happy. Following his service, he attended Miami University (Miami of Ohio), where fate led him to his future wife, Marilyn. While Marilyn’s sorority was raising money for charity by offering back massages, Steve enthusiastically signed up for one. They went out to dinner that very same night, beginning a lifelong love story.

Steve and Marilyn began their family in Cleveland, Ohio, welcoming two beautiful children, Katherine Michelle and Stephanie Mason. In the late 1970s, the family relocated from Cleveland to the suburbs of Houston, where Steve continued his career in the growing tech industry. He spent many years balancing a successful corporate career while simultaneously partnering with Marilyn to build and grow their own technology company.

In 1994, Steve and Marilyn moved to Tiki Island, Texas, fulfilling a long-held dream by building a beautiful home on the bay. After a rewarding and industrious career, Steve retired. Retirement brought new adventures, as he and Marilyn spent their time traveling together, frequently visiting their favorite places across the Hawaiian Islands. An avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, Steve was never one to sit around idly. He stayed constantly active on the island, working on his boat, tackling home projects, growing his gardens, and volunteering for the Lighthouse charity.

Beyond his professional life, Steve shared an active and joyful social circle alongside Marilyn in the Mardi Gras Krewe of Gambrinus. In 2018, he was honored with the title of King of the Krewe, leading a memorable reign themed ‘When Pigs Fly.’ Steve was absolutely delighted in the role, fully enjoying the camaraderie, festive parades, and spirited celebrations that came with his crown.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Marilyn Comstock; his daughter Stephanie Mason Comstock and her husband, Greg Schroeder; his daughter Katherine Michelle Wallace and her husband, Casey Wallace; and his grandchildren, Tyler House and Tim House. He also leaves behind his brother, Clyde Comstock, and his sisters, Betsy Humphrey and Christine Comstock
