Brenda Sue Wood
For those who called her Momma, Mom, Beautiful, Momma Bee, Buddy Ol’ Pal, Sister, Aunt Brenda, Grandma, Friend and Coworker, today is the day to honor and celebrate Ms. Brenda Sue Wood.
Brenda lived a life full of adventures, some of which were bad, but most of which were good. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, love of animals, incredible artworks, and one of the best household records filing systems ever. Brenda’s professional life included jobs held at Century 21, UPS and Alvin ISD. Her personal life included jobs such as the family’s amazing and inventive chef, seamstress, carpenter, mechanic, as well as chief cook and bottle washer. Brenda loved to go camping with family and friends at places like the Guadalupe River and the Texas Renaissance Festival. She was an excellent host of family and friend get-togethers with swimming, good food, Pictionary and abundant loud laughter. Brenda shared her love and knowledge of cooking, art and craft projects, carpentry and mechanics with her sons so that her knowledge will carry forward. Some have described Brenda as a force of nature, and everyone describes her as a person who loved and cared for others, and we know she was always stubborn enough to not ask for a lot of help for herself. Brenda loved all animals big and small, such as dogs, cats, squirrel-monkeys, bobcats, turtles, squirrels, hawks, hummingbirds, honey-bees, lizards, chickens, and she had a good tolerance for the snakes, spiders and rats that joined the family through the years. While Brenda loved all animals and various critters, her favorites were her pet birds. It all started with the little ones who fell out of the bird’s nest and her mother letting her keep them as pets as a child, to her parrots of the last few years, the parakeets she watched hatch from their tiny eggs, and finally to her baby “Cooper the Pooper” the talking Ringneck Parrot.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Cole, her stepfather Randall Cole; her sister-in-law Marilee Clifton; an assortment of aunts, uncles and cousins. Brenda is survived by her sons Michael Hubble-Wood and wife Amy Hubble-Wood; Timothy Wood and fiancé Elliot Lara; her grandchildren Aliyah, Elijah and Arielle; her brothers James Clifton and wife Donna Clifton; Ricky Clifton; Ronny Clifton and wife Essie Clifton; nephew Austin Clifton, and her sweet baby Cooper. Brenda is also survived by her extended family members: Joe Wood; Mark Novack; Connie Ziegglemieyer; Donna Keimig; Richard Ziegglemieyer; Troy, Donna and Chase Yarbrough; and Shana Tobey, with a wealth of nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren of the extended family, in addition to all of her friends made along the way.
Brenda lived as one of Jehovah’s Witness and it gave her the ability to help everyone she loved.
The family specifically wants to thank Dr. Lena Bruce, as well as all the additional doctors, nurses and their support staff that helped Brenda stay as relatively healthy as long as possible so we had time to revel in and receive her love and laughter.
The person entrusted with writing these words leaves you with this thought: Grief is all the love that you were not able to share. She has taken care of so many people throughout the years that we each have a little piece of her to hold in our hearts.
Brenda’s legacy will live on in her children Michael and Timothy, and their families.
There also is this small joy: Brenda’s voice will live on with her sweet baby Cooper.

SMILE
Smile though your heart is aching,
Smile even though it’s breaking,
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by,
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness,
Although a tear may be ever so near.
That’s the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.
That’s the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.
