David Stanley Pride
David Stanley Pride, age 67, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by family who loved him deeply. David was the heart of his family—a devoted husband, proud father, and grandfather whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him.
David shared a beautiful life with his wife, Jackie Pride, whom he loved fiercely. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He was a constant source of support and encouragement to his sons, always showing up, lending a hand, and making sure they knew how much they were loved, even if his way of showing it was daily phone calls at 5:30 a.m. When Thomas was just three years old, David stepped into the role of dad without hesitation, loving Thomas as his own in every sense of the word.
As a grandfather, David’s love only grew deeper. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and could always be found cheering the loudest at his grandsons’ football games when they were younger, his granddaughters’ softball games and dance events, or simply enjoying being “Pawpaw.”
David worked as a mechanic for the Galveston County Road and Bridge Department, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Earlier in life, David proudly served his community as Fire Chief for the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department. Service was deeply important to him, and nothing made him prouder than watching his son John follow in his footsteps and become a firefighter. Those who worked alongside David knew they could always count on him, especially his longtime partner and friend, Marcus. We find comfort in knowing that the dynamic duo, Marcus and David, are surely reunited in heaven.
After retiring in April 2023, David embraced the simple joys of life—cooking meals for those he loved, fishing, playing Keno, cheering on the Houston Texans, and spending countless hours in the garage with neighbors.
David is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Pride; his sons John Pride and wife Kaycee Pride, Thomas Crane, and Marty Pride; bonus daughter Laura Kraft; his four grandchildren, Aleyah Pride, McKinley Pride, Martin Pride, and Clayton Pride, and great-grandson Clayton Pride Jr; and brother Bubba Pride. His legacy lives on through them—in their laughter, their strength, and the deep love they carry forward.
David will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. His love, steady presence, and unwavering devotion to family will never be forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life on February 7th from 12:00–6:00 PM for a Celebration of Life BBQ at
