John K. Mangialardi
John K. Mangialardi, 96 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home of 40 years in Seabrook, TX on May 13, 2025.
He was born in New York City, New York on August 19, 1929, to Anna and Frank Mangialardi. At the age of four, the family returned to their ancestral hometown of Nusco, in the Campania region of Southern Italy. Following the death of his parents and at a crossroads in his life, John determined at the age of nineteen he would return to the country of his birth, “to start a new life.” He boarded the passenger liner SS La Guardia and travelled to New York to join family in Long Island. Soon after his arrival, he joined the United States Army. He then went on to earn a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University in 1960. During this period, he met and married Ingrid Konrad and together they raised four children. In time the family moved to Seabrook, Texas where John established a distinguished career working for Northrup Grumman and
General Electric companies, collaborating with the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). His inquisitiveness, along with innate intellectual ability, led him to design,
develop and patent process-specific technical systems for NASA’s space programs. John was first and foremost a family man and an avid European history enthusiast. He enjoyed sharing multiple generations of unique family stories with loved ones and was passionate about exploring European history, culture and cuisine.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ingrid Mangialardi; sisters Guila Ciano and husband Vincenzo, and Norma Clemente and husband Tony. He is esteemed by many and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 21 years, Guila Mangialardi; brother Franco Mangialardi and wife Marirosa; sons Frank Mangialardi and wife Mercy, and Karl Mangialardi; daughters Joanne Starbuck and husband John, Lisa Lofaro and husband Sam, step-daughter Giovanna and husband Kurt; granddaughters Nicole Willis and husband Steven, Emily Fox and husband Dylan; grandsons Jonathan Gramaski and Sebastian Lofaro; and great-grandson Cole Willis; and numerous family members and friends.
