John Michael McGowan
John Michael McGowan, 82, a resident of Santa Fe, Texas passed away on September 5, 2026. He was born on August 19, 1944 in Galveston, Texas to parents, Patrick Phillip McGowan, Sr. and Rose Camille Dolfi McGowan.
John served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Before retiring, he worked as the director of information services for the University of Texas Medical Branch.
John is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald McGowan and Patrick McGowan, Jr. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his loving wife, Cynthia McGowan; sons, Britt McGowan and Blake McGowan and nephews, Bryan McGowan and wife, Whitney, Michael McGowan and Jacob McGowan.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on October 10, 2026 at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm.

Cindy, your family is on our church prayer list. I remember John with fondness. You and I used to run into each other occasionally in feed stores when Alan and I had horses. Age caught up with us in that regard.

Cindy: while you knew his passing was imminent- he was such a wonderful gentleman and such a great friend to all. He was always so kind and will be missed. I am in California so will not be there but will keep you all in my prayers. He will always be remembered.
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a truly remarkable man. He was more than just a great boss, he was a mentor, a leader, and a friend. His leadership was built on integrity, respect, and a genuine care for the people around him. He had a way of bringing out the best in others and made every person feel valued.
What I will remember most was his authentic spirit. He loved the outdoors and found joy in the simple things in life. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he lived with a humility and kindness that left a lasting impression on me and everyone who knew him.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned from him and to have called him a friend. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
