James Crowder Jr.

James C. Crowder, Jr (Bim) was born in Galveston, Texas, to James C. Crowder, Sr. and Ann Louise Crowder. After moving to La Marque in 1959, Bim attended Queen of Peace Catholic Elementary School and La Marque Schools. He graduated from La Marque High School in 1971; the first class of the Cougar, and later graduated from the Commonwealth College of Science in Houston, Texas.

Bim first began working for James Crowder Funeral Homes in 1969; he worked for his father, mowing grass, and washing ambulances and funeral cars after school and on the weekends. He received his funeral director’s license in 1974 and continues to manage and operate the family business with his two older brothers John Crowder and Ron Crowder.

Bim has served in many civic organizations throughout the community. Currently, he is a board member of the Rotary Club of the Mainland and La Marque City Cemetery; chairman of the La Marque Fifty Club and chairman of the La Marque Crime Stoppers, Inc. Bim also serves as race secretary for the Galveston County Racing Pigeon Club, and treasurer for, both, the Harris County Racing Pigeon, and Gulf Coast Homing Pigeon Association.

Bim is married to Lee Ann Crowder and has five children; James Crowder III (wife Katie), Mark Crowder (wife Lanie), Lori Murdock, Toban Crowder (fiancé Brooke) and Rilee Born (husband Kyle).
