Yvonne Graugnard Smith

Smith-Yvonne cropOn September 24, 2015, Yvonne Graugnard Smith went to be with Our Lord after a brief illness at Mainland Medical Center. She was a proud BOI, where she graduated from Ball High School and enjoyed life with her family and their business, G&G Bakery.  After a long professional career as an administrative assistant, Yvonne retired from BP (formerly Amoco).   She loved to travel with the Texas Bluebonnet RV Club, playing cards with her friends at the League City Seniors Center, and was an active choir member and volunteer at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Scott, their wonderful daughter, Nickie Pope, the other love- of- her- life, their granddaughter, Skyler Pope, sisters Dorothy Anderson and Patsy Johns, brother, Milton Graugnard, sisters-in-law Selia and Elsie Graugnard, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Adeline Graugnard, brothers Henry and Ronald Graugnard, sisters Mary Gottschalk (and husband Bill), Annette Hergesell (and husband Milton), Adeline Schurwon (and husband, Rudy), and sister-in-law, Margie Graugnard, brother-in-laws Walter Anderson and Bobby Johns. Pallbearers will be Phil Leasure, Robert Johns, Tom Cain, Craig Canon, Doyle Heiman and Craig Canon Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are: Arthur and Lawrence Anderson, John Walker, Milton Anderson, and Charlie Johns. Visitation will be held Monday, September 28 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church at 1601 Lake Road, La Marque, TX on Tuesday September 29 at 10:00am with Rev. Bob Moore officiating. Internment will be at Galveston Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock with a reception following at St. Michael’s Church. Donations may be made in Yvonne’s memory to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff of Mainland Medical Center ICU and ER, as well as the Afinity Urgent Care Center for their care and concern.

  2. There are few words to say, just follow your heart and God will help you through this. It’s nice just to hear a few kind words from friends, I will pray for you and your family, Nicki and Skyler, God will be good to you also. I wish I could be there for you. God bless all of you.

  3. My condolences to Yvonne’s family. I knew Yvonne back in the Amoco days at which time she had her pink Edsel. I still have that video clip when we were all on the Gene Hamon Ford lot. She was a wonderful person when I knew her here at Amoco which is now Marathon. Words are few, but remember the times that you enjoyed having her around during holidays, family time. God Bless.
