William E. Alford, Sr.

William E. Alford, Sr. of Hitchcock, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2026. Bill was born on January 8, 1930, in Galveston Texas, to William E. Alford, Sr. and Vivian Caldwell Alford. Bill was raised in Galveston and Hitchcock, being a resident of Hitchcock for 80 plus years. Bill was a hard worker and helped anyone at any project. He was a handyman.

After leaving High School, he went to work for Union Carbide in 1948 and retired as a chief operator after 42 years.

Knowing his wife in grade school, they started dating in 1949. In 1950 they were married in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock. They raised two daughters, Deborah Alford Agnew (James) and Pattie Alford Stricklind (Randy). Survivors are his wife: Frances Delesandri Alford, two daughters and son-in-laws, Four grandchildren: Randy Stricklind II, Ryan Stricklind, Adam Agnew and Amy Agnew. Seven Great Grandchildren: Reed Stricklind, Rhett Stricklind, Brooks Stricklind, Brier Stricklind, Jaylee Agnew, Hallie Agnew and Brody Agnew.

Bill loved the outdoors. He was a gardener, hunter and fisherman. He was an active member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department for 25 plus years, active with the Knights of Columbus 10393, also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock.

In Lieu of Flowers make donations to Knights of Columbus Council 10393, 11100 Highway 6, Santa Fe, Texas 77510 or the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department, 7003 2nd Street, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.

A visitation will be held  6:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday,  February 19, 2026, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque, with a Rosary Service at 7:00pm.  A service will be held at 11:30am Friday February 20, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Larry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Randy Stricklind II, Ryan Stricklind, Adam Agnew, Reed Stricklind, Brooks Stricklind, Brier Stricklind, Brody Angew and Rhett Stricklind.   Honorary Pallbearer will be George Pyle and Mike Alford
