Walter Edward Bennett, Jr., born on October 28, 1961, a devoted son, loving father, caring brother, proud grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, in Galveston, Texas.

Affectionately known to those closest to him as “Papa”, Walter was a man of honor, quiet strength, gentle humor, and unwavering love for his family.

Walter was deeply influenced by his father, Walter Edward Bennett, Sr., who bravely served his country during World War II. Inspired by his father example and his own strong sense of duty, Walter Jr. answered the call to serve and joined the United States Air Force on August 25, 1980. His years of service as a United States Airman reflected the values he carried throughout his life—discipline, loyalty, pride, and commitment.

To his country, he was a proud veteran and protector. To his family, he was so much more. He was Dad. He was family. He was home.

Walter is survived by his loving mother, Theodora Bennett; his children, Walter Edward Bennett III and A’Shawnte’ Starr; his brothers, Karlton Bennett and Byron K. Bennett; and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family was at the center of Walter’s life. He expressed his love not always through words, but through his presence, his consistency, his protection, and the countless ways he supported those around him. His laughter, his personality, and the special names he shared with his children created memories that will be treasured forever.

His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him. Yet his legacy remains—in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and in everyone whose life he touched.

Walter Edward Bennett, Jr. will be remembered for the life he lived, the country he served, the family he loved, and the laughter he brought into the lives of others.

His service was honorable.

His love was unconditional.

His presence was unforgettable.

His legacy will live forever.
