Sally O’Neal Jones

Sally O’Neal Jones departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, February 20, 2022 in League City, Texas. She was 94. She had a long fight with dementia and breast cancer and in the end, was lovingly surrounded by her 3 daughters. Sally was born January 28, 1928 in Shallowater Texas to Bernice and James Arnold O’Neal.

Sally graduated from Shallowater High School. She had an extensive and exciting career in sales and marketing in the airline industry. She worked for Braniff International Airways and Pan American World Airways. She had the honor of being asked to be a color guard for the “Flying Colors” Braniff Boeing 727-200 aircraft that was designed by Alexander Calder to celebrate the Bicentennial of the United States of America.

Sally is the loving and devoted mother of Toni McCarty of Lubbock Texas; Candy Cress Decker(Dennis) of League City Texas and O’Neal Tomlinson of Corpus Christi, Texas; Vincent Jones stepson.  She loved and considered Eric Huffman(Martha) as one of her own as well.

Proud Grandmother of Holly Hallford(Perry); Poppy Beard; Shaun Smith; Crystal Trahan(Mike); Tony Martin; Aria Tomlinson-Gutierrez; Asela Tomlinson; Ralna Cunningham(David); Randall Merriott(Dionne). Sally had 11 great grandchildren and 10 great- great- grandchildren.

Daughter of the late Bernice O’Neal and the late James Arnold O’Neal. Sister of the late Jo Burke and the late Laverne Stephenson.

Sally was beloved wife to the late Tommy Tomlinson. She then met Fred Jones who preceded her in death after 33 years of a loving marriage.

As a small child growing up on the farm in Lubbock, Texas, Sally would love to look up into the clouds and dream of having wings to fly high in the sky. At age 75, her dream came true as she went skydiving while family and friends had a tailgate party to celebrate Sally in the sky. She was an accomplished global traveler by air and by sea. She had a love for hunting deer and javelina and putting the pedal to the medal in her Ford Mustang GT.

Sally loved Jesus with all her heart. She read the Bible daily and on any given day, may call to read a Proverb to whomever God put in her heart to share it with. She was a member of Church Unlimited in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sally was a lady with strong faith, values and morals. She will forever be remembered by her “JOY SISTER” friends.

Sally wished to be cremated. There will be no service. A celebration of her life will be arranged and announced at a later date.
