Roy Melton Ford

Roy Melton Ford, 94, passed away on the morning of December 19, 2021.  Roy was born February 16, 1927 in Athens, Texas to parents Ola Lee and Willie Mae Ford.  At the age of 15, Roy enlisted in the United States Army Air Core where he served his country with pride until the end of World War II.  Roy is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, PopPop, and friend.  As a self-taught builder, carpenter, and artist, Roy spent his life tinkering and bringing wonder to world around him.

In retirement, Roy enjoyed making pies to share with family, friends, or the community, and playing any game that would bring people together.  He was particularly fond of Crazy Eights.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Francis, Jetty, Delores, and Geraldine; and wife Ginger.

Left to cherish his life and memories are his children: Deborah Ford, Sharon Delanoix and husband Ralph, Mike Ford and husband Michael Shaver; grand-daughters: Rachel Delanoix and husband Patrick Barton and Catherine Delanoix and husband Cresendo Sotuyo; great grand-daughter River Delanoix; best friend and long-time partner Reba Armstrong and sons Michael, Paul, and Kevin; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

  2. You taught me how to fish, how to hold my cards, and how to walk on stilts. I’ll never forget the magic jumping beans or the pet in your napkin. Thank you for the wonderful memories and the magic you brought my childhood. Love you Grandpa.
