Rosemary Kirby

Rosemary Dean Kirby, 83, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in her home Monday, June 29, 2020. She was surrounded by her husband, oldest daughter and caregiver at her time of death.
Born in 1936 to Eloise (Bessie) and John H. Dean, she spent her youth in Arlington, Virginia. Rosemary received her BS in Home Economics from Russell Sage College on June 1, 1958. She worked as a Registered Dietician in Dallas, Texas after graduation.
Rosemary was an active and sustaining member of the national DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution, non-profit service organization which focused promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education for children. She will be fondly remembered for her love of sewing, cooking, spending time at Port Bolivar, RV traveling and being with her children. Rosemary was extremely loving and proud of her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, volunteer and friend to those who knew her.
Following a battle with leukemia from 2002 – 2004, Rosemary beat the odds with the help of wonderful doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2014, dementia began to slowly take toll on her mentally and eventually her physical state.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ryborn Kirby; daughter Brenda Kirby; daughter Kristina Kirby and her husband Robert Higgins; 5 grandchildren and numerous friends.
At this time, there will not be a funeral or memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

    Though recent years had been unkind to her, her life
    was so much bigger than the illness that took her away.
    Her friendship was such a treasure. My heart goes out
    to you, her family, as your loss is so very sad. May you
    find peace and comfort in your memories and faith.
